DETROIT – A 17-year-old will spend the next 30 to 60 years behind bars for his involvement in the home invasion and rape of a 90-year-old woman.
Maurice Randall was sentenced Thursday morning by Judge Vonda Evans. Randall did not appear in court to hear his sentence or to hear testimony from the victim’s family. Judge Evans told the court she was upset Randall refused to come into the courtroom and his failure to show any remorse.
Another teen, 18-year-old Anthony Hardy, already pled guilty to home invasion and was sentenced to 7 to 20 years in prison. A 15-year-old was also charged in the case. Police say the teens entered the home on Leslie Street on Detroit’s northwest side in August of 2010. The victim was asleep in the home along with her daughter and grandson.
